‘Airs for a King’

One of Scotland's top fiddlers, Dunfermline born Pete Clark, will be joined by cellist Wendy Weatherby, guitarist Jack Evans and accordion and keyboard player Jim Leighton in a unique event playing music associated with King Robert the Bruce who lies buried in DunfermlineAbbeyChurch. One of Scotland's finest singers Sheena Wellington will also be taking part, performing from Burns to ballad to the best of contemporary singing drawn from the rich tradition passed from musician to musician through the ages, and as part of her repertoire will be singing 'A Man's a Man for A' That' that was described by The Times as 'the most moving moment of all' at the opening of the Scottish Parliament.
Actor Jock Ferguson will play the part of Robert the Bruce as part of the evening's programme and recite the 'Declaration of Arbroath' above the tomb of Bruce. The event will be compered by television presenter, broadcaster and writer Carl MacDougall who wrote and presented the four part BBC2 series "The Language of the People".

The Sound of the Deer

An evening of song, food and sound art at Falkland Palace celebrating the sound, the sighting and the taste of the deer.
With song from Sheena Wellington, narration by John Fletcher and the work of sound artists, Louise Wilson and David Chapman, showing the Chapel and Tapestry Gallery in a new light, and revealing a recent discovery from Falkland's past.
Followed by local venison and slow food by Christopher Trotter with Isle of Bute Mead and finishing with a taste of Uisge Beatha - the Poit Dhubh 12 year old whisky.
